You send tens of thousands of transactional emails a month. You need the single-send or SMTP API so your own app can trigger emails, or you want open and click analytics in the same dashboards as your marketing email. If that's you, the add-on's unlimited volume and API access are worth the $600, and we'd tell you to buy it. ## When Cambium is the right choice Your portal runs on Sales, Service, or Data Hub, and you don't have Marketing Hub Professional, so the add-on isn't for sale to you. Or you do have Marketing Pro, but you send a few hundred or a few thousand receipts and notices a month, and $600 is a lot to pay for that. In both cases you want the same thing: build the email in HubSpot, send it from a workflow, and see it on the contact. ## What you give up compared with the add-on We'd rather you hear the limits here than in week two. There's no API, so only HubSpot workflows can trigger a send. Each action sends to one recipient, with no CC or BCC. Tokens come from the contact and their primary company, so deal or ticket details need copying onto the contact first. And you get send, bounce, and complaint events on the timeline instead of HubSpot's open and click dashboards. For receipts and account notices triggered by CRM events, none of that tends to matter. For a product that sends password resets from its own backend, it does, and the add-on or a developer email API is the better fit. ## The workaround most teams try first Plenty of teams send "transactional" emails as regular marketing emails from a workflow. It works until a customer who unsubscribed from your newsletter stops getting their receipts, because HubSpot won't send marketing email to unsubscribed contacts. Transactional email exists to close exactly that gap. FAQ ## Frequently asked questions ### Can I switch from HubSpot's add-on? Usually. Your templates already live in HubSpot's editor, so you point your workflows at our action and set up your sending domain. Two things don't carry over. Sends your own app triggers through HubSpot's single-send or SMTP API need another route, because we only send from workflows. And templates built with custom modules get flagged, so rebuild those with HubSpot's standard modules first. ### Is it allowed to send to unsubscribed contacts? For transactional messages, yes.
